The Minnesota Vikings continue making moves in the 2025 NFL Draft, as Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and company have now made a trade with the Seattle Seahawks.
The trade sees the Vikings sending the 142nd pick to the Seahawks. In exchange, the Vikings will receive the 172nd overall pick, which is still in the fifth round, as well as quarterback Sam Howell.
Howell will apparently serve in the veteran backup role for the Vikings behind J.J. McCarthy. He was a fifth-round pick of the Washington Commanders in the 2022 NFL Draft out of North Carolina and started all 17 games for the Commanders in 2023. His performance was. . .mixed, to put it mildly. He did throw 21 touchdown passes, but he balanced that out with 21 interceptions, which led the National Football League. He took a league-leading 65 sacks that season as well.
He was then traded to Seattle before the 2024 NFL Draft, with the Commanders sending Howell, a fourth-round pick, and a sixth-round pick to the Seahawks for a third-round pick and a fifth-round pick.
After this deal, the Vikings are next set to pick at #172 overall in the fifth round.
