UFC Des Moines Results, Highlights
Biggest Winner: Reinier de Ridder
“The Dutch Knight” gets the nod here because he did what he said he was going to do, and that’s pop Bo Nickal’s balloon and hype by handing him his first-ever loss. And he did it in fashion, too, knocking out the wrestler with repeated knees to the chest. De Ridder is now 4-0 inside the Octagon and has all of the momentum in the world right now to make a huge leap in the rankings, and to take advantage of the opportunities that come with it.

Runner Up: Cory Sandhagen
Injury or not, Sandhagen secured a huge win by stopping Figueiredo via second-round TKO after “Dacico” suffered a knee injury after the two men were grappling for position on the ground. Sandhagen eventually caught the Brazilian bomber’s knee in an odd position, leading to the injury and victory. With the win, Sandhagen, improves to 4-1 in his last five fights and makes a huge case for himself to face the winner of Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’ Malley, who will collided for the second time at UFC 316 next month.

Biggest Loser: Bo Nickal
If you thought the criticism was loud for Nickal when he was winning, it’s going to be deafening now that he suffered the first loss of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. After hearing time and again that he was being tossed softballs throughout his UFC run, Nickal accepted the fight against de Ridder — the former two-division ONE champion — in hopes of getting a win and silencing all the haters. Instead, he opened up a big can of worms after he was stopped in round two. It;s a tough blow for Nickal’s ascension up the ladder, but not one that should have caught many by surprise, as “The Dutch Knight” is as legit as they come. It’s back to the drawing board for the wrestling standout.
