UFC Fight Night 256 (ESPN+) took place Saturday, and MMA Junkie provided live round-by-round coverage and official results. UFC Fight Night 256 took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

In the headliner, former welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns (22-9 MMA, 15-9 UFC) took on unbeaten rising star Michael Morales (18-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC). In the co-feature, SMarion antos (16-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) defeated veteran Sodiq Yusuff (13-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC).

Mairon Santos vs. Sodiq Yusuff

Round 1 – Yusuff putting the pressure here on Santos. Both fighters being very careful. Good leg kick by Yusuff. More leg kicks from Santos. Neither fighter has landed clean here. Big hook lands for Yusuff! Santos putting on the pressure here on Yusuff. Yusuff tries to takedown Santos and comes up short. Stiff jab for Santos. Another one! Round 1 – Leg kick by Ruziboev. Another big leg kick by Ruziboev. Long jab by Ruziboev. Righthand lands for Ruziboev. Stoltzfus very tentative here on the feet. Oh! Stoltzfus drops Ruziboev! He gets a mounted guillotine on him now! It looks tight! Ruziboev reverses him and ends on top! What a sequence. Replay shows it was a clash of heads that dropped Ruziboev, not a punch. Two minutes left. Ruziboev controlling the fight from top. Stoltzfus gets on his feet and presses Ruziboev against the cage. Ruziboev breaks free and back to striking. Big eleft hook by Euziboev! Clean one, two by Ruziboev! They clinch and Ruziboev takes down Stoltzfus. The bell rings.

Another right hand lands for Camilo. Green is not throwing much here, but he’s at least starting to pressure Camilo. Leg kick by Camilo. Oh! Nasty body shot by Camilo. It’s all Camilo for now. Jared Gordon vs. Thiago Moises

Round 1 – Gordon catches a leg kick and takes down Moises. Gordon working from guard. Some punches here and there to the body by Gordon. Elbow from Moises cuts Gordon on the forehead. He’s bleeding a lot. More elbows from bottom by Moises. Three minutes left. Gordon with some shots here and there, but not doing much damage. Moises gets back to his feet, but is being pressed against the cage. Good control and pressure by Gordon. They break away. They trade leg kicks. They both trade leg kicks again. Right hand connects for Moises. Oh! Gordon floors Moises with a huge shot! It’s over! What a KO!

Connor Matthews vs. Yadier del Valle

Round 1 – Big leg kick by del Valle. He looks much bigger and more explosive than Matthews. Another heavy leg kickby del Valle. Righthand connects for del Valle. Nasty leg kick by del Valle. Mean leg kicks by del Valle! del Valle catches a kick and takes down Matthews. del Valle working from guard. A couple big shots connect for del Valle. del Valle has Matthews leg’s tied up, Khabib-style. del Valle takes the back of Matthews! He sinks in a rear-naked choke! There’s the tap!

Tainara Lisboa vs. Luana Santos

Round 1 – Lisboa takes the center of the cage. Nice right hand by Santos. She’s striking and moving here. Lisboa looks a bit stiff. Santos shoots and gets the takedown! Santos controlling from side control. Lisboa tries a weird back take, almost gets it, but ends on bottom. Santos on top in half-guard. Little damage from Santos, just pure control. Lisboa gets back up, but still tied up by Santos by the cage. Takedown from Santos! 30 seconds left. Lisboa tires a leg lock. The bell rings.

Round 2 – Lisboa comes forward with single strikes. Santos lands a left high kick. Lisboa throws a kick in return but she gets it caught and is easily taken down. Santos has a tight grip in side control, working for a submission, but isn’t rushing anything. Santos thinks about a keylock, but it’s not there. She ends up taking the back instead. Lisboa turns into her, giving up full mount. Santos stays down close and isolates an arm for an Americana. She’s cranking hard with just a few seconds left. There’s the verbal tap just before the horn!

Denise Gomes vs. Elise Reed

Round 1 – They both trade leg kicks. Oh! Early right hand connects for Gomes! Oh! Again, Gomes wobbles Reed! Gomes now going for the kill. Gomes presses her against the cage. Knee to the body! Elbow! Gomes now takes her down. They keep fighting for position against the cage. Gomes finally gets the takedown on Reed and gets half guard. We’re halfway through the round. Reed has a big mouse under her eye and is bleeding from her nose. Short shots by Gomes, but nothing big. Short shots to the body by Gomes. Gomes unable to pass Reed’s half-guard. Gomes rides out the rest of the round on top.

Tecia Pennington vs. Luana Pinheiro

Round 1 – Pennington takes the center of the octagon. Leg kick by Pennington. Both fighters being very cautious. Oh! Big head kick by Pennington. Pinheiro eats it well, though. Pinheiro with a nice leg kick. And Pennington answers back with one of her own. Pinheiro with another leg kick. Quick combo lands for Pennington. Now Pinheiro with a combo! We’re halfway through the round. Leg kick, then a right hand by Pennington. Oh! Clean right hook lands for Pennington. Another one! Pennington gets a front headlock, but Pinheiro escapes and lands a shot on the break. Pennington with more hook connections! She’s looking sharp. There’s a little exchange in the end and Pennington lands on her back. The bell rings. Unsure what connected.
