Hykeem Williams, the lone Composite five-star FSU signee of the Norvell Era, is transferring

Hykeem Williams, one of just two five-star signees of the Mike Norvell Era, is transferring from Florida State after two injury-filled seasons.

Williams was the lone composite five-star to sign with FSU in six classes under Norvell. Demorie Tate was only ranked five stars by 247Sports and was not a composite five star.

The disappointing career at FSU ends with Williams amassing just 267 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns on 21 catches. The product of Stranahan High in Fort Lauderdale showed promise as a true freshman after coming to campus out of shape that spring, working to shed weight. He ended up entering the rotation of a receiving corps that included Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson as a rookie, distinguishing himself as a blocker and also showing surprising speed in a big frame on a touchdown reception against Syracuse. He also had a key catch in FSU’s comeback win against Duke, but his season was cut short with an ankle sprain.

Williams was projected to step into a starting role last season, but a hamstring injury suffered on a long touchdown catch in camp slowed him down for the first month of the season and Williams never got into a groove.

He then broke his thumb during a freak accident trying to protect a parent on the sideline from a misplaced pass this spring.

Williams will have two seasons of eligibility remaining and is expected to garner P4 interest given his upside and flashes of talent.

Williams held a 98 Grade from 247Sports and was the No. 24 prospect in the 2023 class. He picked FSU over Pittsburgh and Miami, and also took an official visit to Georgia.
