The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been allotted the previous Avengers: Doomsday release date. The much-awaited sequel to the 2006 movie helmed by David Frankel was announced in July 2024. The Devil Wears Prada was adapted from a 2003 novel of the same name, written by Lauren Weisberger. Starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker, and more, the movie turned out to be a huge success at the box office.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 sets release date for May 2026
The Devil Wears Prada 2 has taken over the old release date of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. The highly anticipated sequel to the 2006 movie is now all set to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026.
Previously, Avengers: Doomsday had this summer slot, but Disney delayed the release of the movie. The new release date of the Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth-led movie is December 18, 2026.
While Disney has not revealed any particular reason behind this decision, fans are indulging in discussions online to decode it. One reason behind pushing back the release of Doomsday can be the extended production time required for the movie. Other speculated reasons could be potential reshoots or Marvel adding more members to the movie’s already humongous cast. (via SuperHeroHype)
Following the announcement of The Devil Wears Prada 2, it was also revealed that Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt will reprise their roles of Miranda Priestly and Emily Charlton, respectively.
On the other hand, there is no confirmation regarding the return of Anne Hathaway, who portrayed the role of Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada. However, fans are hopeful she might make an appearance in the sequel.
Notably, the script of the sequel is being penned by the original movie’s writer, Aline Brosh McKenna, as per reports.
