LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) -A person was killed in a crash involving a Louisville officer Wednesday night on April 2.

Assistant Chief Donny Burbrink said the crash happened around 9 p.m. on Fern Valley Road. Before the crash, officers were called to assist EMS on the expressway at I-65 and the Watterson. While en route, officers were involved in a crash.

Burbrink said the officer was traveling west on Fern Valley Road when a car headed east turned in front of the cruiser.

The officer was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital and is expected to survive. The driver of the passenger car died at the scene.

Burbrink said the crash is under investigation. The name of the victim has not been released.
