World champions… again. And it’s a title Chelsea more than deserve after producing a scintillating final performance to win the Club World Cup.

Paris Saint-Germain were the favourites ahead of the game at MetLife Stadium; Luis Enrique’s side came into the tournament having dominantly won the Champions League in May.

Yet they were no match for the Blues, as Cole Palmer struck a first-half brace before he turned provider for Joao Pedro to make it 3-0 just before the interval.

Robert Sanchez made several big saves in the second period to keep our lead intact. Liam Delap also had two opportunities to add to our advantage, but was twice thwarted by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Scenes of joy greeted the full-time whistle. And from New Jersey to London – and across the world – Chelsea supporters celebrated.

The Blues players and staff did so long after the final whistle, and Reece James became the first captain to lift the newly created trophy.
