Colorado Rockies game no. 7 thread: Osvaldo Bido vs. Ryan Feltner

It’s here, folks! The Colorado Rockies (1-5) have officially returned home for their first series at Coors in 2025. They will face the Oakland Las Vegas Sacramento Athletics (2-5). They are 18-14 all-time in their Home Opener, including 17-13 at Coors Field. They have won each of their last two, and the second-straight season that they will face an American League opponent after never having done so prior to 2024. After a record-high 75 degrees last Home Opener, today’s first pitch is supposed to be around 39 degrees. If that holds, it will mark the third time that a Rockies Home Opener had a first-pitch temperature of under 40 degrees. The other two were April 12, 2004 against the Arizona Diamondbacks (37º) and the other was “Snowpening Day” on April 6, 2018 (27º).

Ryan Feltner (0-0, 3.60 ERA) will take the mound for the Rockies, his second of the season. In his last start on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays, Feltner allowed two runs on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts across five innings. Three of his four hits (including a two-run homer) and his only walk came in the first inning within the first five batters, and then Feltner settled down and retired 12-consecutive batters — a single-game career-high for him.

He will face A’s right-hander Osvaldo Bido (1-0, 1.80 ERA). Bido was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2017, and made his way around their system, making his MLB debut on June 14, 2023. He made 16 appearances (9 starts) with the Pirates before electing free agency at the end of 2023. He then signed with the A’s, once again making 16 appearances (9 starts) in 2024. In his last start, Bido faced the Seattle Mariners. He allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits with four walks, four strikeouts and two hit batters over five innings.

Can the Rockies capture some LoDo Magic this afternoon, even in a (possible) winter wonderland?
