MORE ON THAT AHEAD. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. WELL, TODAY IS THE DAY SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS FANS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THE GIANTS HOME OPENER IS THIS AFTERNOON AGAINST THE SEATTLE MARINERS. AND KCRA 3’S MICHELLE DAPPER JOINS US LIVE FROM ORACLE PARK WITH A PREVIEW BEFORE FIRST PITCH. DAPPER. ABSOLUTELY, LISA. IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY HERE IN SAN FRANCISCO. WE’RE HERE AT ORACLE PARK. THE GROUNDS CREWS STILL WORKING HARD TO GET THAT FIELD READY FOR FIRST PITCH. BUT AGAIN THIS IS THE 25TH YEAR HERE AT ORACLE PARK. IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT BECAUSE TIME FLIES BEFORE THE GAME. DURING THE PRE-GAME OPENING DAY CEREMONIES HERE AT ORACLE PARK, THEY’LL CELEBRATE THE 2000 BASEBALL MEMBERS OF THAT TEAM. SO THAT INCLUDES, LIKE BARRY BONDS, HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT DUSTY BAKER, SACRAMENTO OWN DUSTY BAKER WILL BE HERE ON HAND. AS FOR THE TEAM, THOUGH, THEY’RE OFF TO A FANTASTIC START TO THE SEASON FIVE AND ONE ON THE YEAR. THEY SWEPT THE ASTROS. THEY BEAT THE SERIES AGAINST THE CINCINNATI REDS. LOTS OF GOOD EXPECTATIONS AND THE VIBES I TELL YOU ARE HIGH SURROUNDING THIS BASEBALL TEAM THIS YEAR. UNFORTUNATELY THOUGH, THEY ARE IN THAT TOUGH NL WEST WITH THE DODGERS AND THE PADRES BOTH UNDEFEATED ON THE SEASON. BUT I TELL YOU THAT FIVE AND ONE START, IT’S AN UNEXPECTED FIVE AND ONE START, AND IT HAS FANS FROM BOTH THE STOCKTON AND SACRAMENTO AREAS ECSTATIC ABOUT THIS SEASON. IT DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS. WHAT ELSE COULD YOU DO BETTER? OKAY, REAL GIANTS FANS SHOW UP. WE’RE HERE AND WE DO THE BEST WE CAN. DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS. GIANTS SUNSHINE DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS. RIGHT, SON? NO, OF COURSE NOT, MAN. WE CAME ALL THE WAY DOWN FROM SACRAMENTO. COME OUT HERE EARLY. I MEAN, IT IS TRADITION FOR US. SO. YEAH, I MEAN, NOTHING BETTER THAN OPENING DAY. WE’RE WOKE. WE ONLY GOT ONE LOSS ON THE RECORD. HEY, IT’S OUR DIVISION THIS YEAR. I KNOW THE DODGERS ARE UP THERE, BUT GUESS WHAT? WE’RE GOING TO CHALLENGE THEM THIS YEAR. DON’T WORRY. WE’RE GOING TO SURPRISE SOME PEOPLE. THEY’RE GOING TO CHALLENGE THEM. ANOTHER NEW THING HERE AT THE BALLPARK AS THEY CELEBRATE 25 YEARS HERE AT ORACLE PARK. IT’S NEW LED LIGHTS ON THAT COCA-COLA BOTTLE. AS YOU CAN SEE, THE BUBBLES, THEY’RE POPPING BUBBLY OUT THERE IN LEFT FIELD. GUYS WITH THE COCA-COLA. BUT AGAIN THE GIANTS FIVE AND ONE ON THE SEASON. THEY’RE TAKING ON THE MARINERS TODAY FOR OPENING DAY HERE AT ORACLE. FIRST PITCH SET FOR 135. FUN FACT GET THIS. SO A LOT OF THE THE BASEBALL ANALYSTS WERE GETTING READY FOR THE GAME PREGAME. WELL LAST NIGHT THE MARINERS STARTED A PITCHER NAMED LUIS CASTILLO. AND THEN THEY SAID THEY RELEASED WHO’S GOING TO START TODAY. AND IT WAS ALSO THE NAME LUIS CASTILLO. THEY WERE LIKE, WAIT, WAIT, HE CAN’T PITCH. HE PITCHED LAST NIGHT. NO, NOT THE CASE. IT’S A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LUIS CASTILLO. SO FOR BACK TO BACK NIGHTS, FIRST TIME IN HISTORY OF MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL THAT A PITCHER WITH THE SAME NAME WILL PITCH ON BACK TO BACK NIGHTS. SO THAT’S A LITTLE FUN FACT. AS FOR THE GIANTS, THEY’RE GOING TO COUNTER WITH FUTURE HALL OF FAMER JUSTIN VERLANDER TONIGHT, WHO IS 42 YEARS OLD. BUT HEY, NOT EVERY DAY A FAN GETS TO SEE A FUTURE HALL OF FAMER PITCH AT A OPENING DAY. THAT’S PRETTY AMAZING. BY THE WAY, THE WEATHER. BEAUTIFUL. PERFECT. DAPPER. I KNOW YOU KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT BASEBALL. WHAT WERE THEY DOING WITH HOME PLATE THERE BEHIND YOU? I MEAN, IT LOOKED LIKE THEY’RE LITERALLY MEASURING THINGS. AND WHAT WERE THEY DOING? OF COURSE THEY’RE JUST LINING UP THE FIELD RIGHT NOW. AS YOU CAN SEE, THEY’RE LINING UP THE THE THE THE FIELD AS THEY GET READY HERE. SO I MEAN, THEY’RE GETTING EVERYTHING TO PUT THE PLATES DOWN ACTUALLY NO THEY HAVE NOT PUT THE PLATES DOWN. THEY’RE STILL LIKE IF YOU LOOK IF YOU LOOK OVER AT THIRD BASE, THEY’RE STILL GETTING READY TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING’S LINED UP. IT’S BASEBALL’S A GAME OF INCHES AS WELL. SO YOU GOT TO GET IT PERFECT. LOOK AT THE LINES. THEY ARE PERFECT. THAT’S SO SATISFYING TO WATCH THEM DO THAT. YEAH IT’S FANTASTIC. AND IT SMELLS GREAT OUT HERE AS WELL. GOT THE SMELL OF FRESH AIR AND SOME POPCORN AND PLENTY OF PEOPLE DRINKING BEVERAGES. I LOVE THAT. TWO HOME OPENERS FOR YOU IN ONE WEEK. I’M SO EXCITED FOR YOU. ALL RIGHT. IT LOOKS GREAT. AND I’M EXCITED FOR THE GIANT ME THAT IT’S WHAT A WEEK, WHAT A WEEK, WHAT A WEEK. ALL RIGHT. THEY’RE GOING TO TRY AND GIVE YOUR DODGERS A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY. SO WE’LL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS
