Former All-Pro Eagles wide receiver retires

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Julio Jones has retired from the NFL. Jones, who played in the NFL for 13 seasons, now will head off into new ventures. He is likely a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Jones, who signed with the Eagles in 2023 for their playoff run, did not play in the NFL in 2024. He played in 11 games for the Eagles, amassing just 74 yards on 11 receptions.

However, his peak in the NFL is one of the greatest peaks in NFL history. Through his first 166 games, only Jerry Rice had more receiving yards than Jones.

His most productive years came with the Atlanta Falcons from 2011 to 2020, but after he left Atlanta, his play fell off. Jones played for the Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Eagles in his post-Falcons days.

Overall, Jones finishes as a seven-time Pro Bowler, six-time All-Pro, and with 13703 receiving yards and 66 touchdowns. Jones was selected to the All-2010s Decade Team for the NFL and made the 2011 All-Rookie Team, too.

A first-round pick out of Alabama in the 2011 NFL Draft, legendary Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban noted that Jones was one of his favorite players to ever coach. Now, he should hear his name in Canton in five years.
