Where to watch the Carolina Hurricanes vs. Detroit Red Wings for free today

After suffering another tough loss, the Detroit Red Wings gear up for another important game on Friday night, hosting the Carolina Hurricanes.

At this point of the season, the Red Wings can ill-afford to drop points, even though they have the toughest schedule in the NHL. They had a good chance to steal a win from the red-hot St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night, but ended up falling in overtime, giving Detroit losses in five of its past seven games.

With just eight games left in the regular season, the Wings need to get on a roll if they want to sneak into a playoff spot. Coming into Friday, the team remains sixth in the Atlantic Division, four points back of the last Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Hurricanes do not have to worry about their playoff hopes, as they clinched a spot in the postseason thanks to a win over the Metropolitan Division-leading Washington Capitals on Wednesday night. Carolina is second in the Metro, nine points ahead of the New Jersey Devils.
