Texas A&M baseball continues to stay hot in the second half of the season as the Aggies defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks in Game 1 of the series Thursday night, 7-4.
Thanks to three runs in the top of the third inning, plus a strong effort by Weston Moss out of the bullpen, A&M captures its eighth-straight win.

Center fielder Jace LaViolette added a solo shot in the ninth to push the Aggies’ lead to three runs before Moss came in and shut the door to secure the victory.

A&M starter Ryan Prager continues to have issues in SEC play, lasting just four innings, giving up four runs before being pulled for reliever Weston Moss.
Prager finished the day with one strikeout, one walk and six hits on 66 pitches.
The Razorbacks’ starting pitcher, Zach Root, struggled as well. He pitched four innings and gave up five runs and seven hits on 95 pitches.

Next up is a doubleheader Friday, with first pitch for the day beginning at 2:02 p.m.

LaViolette adds an insurance run to push the Aggies’ lead to 7-4 with three outs left to capture Game 1 versus the No. 2 team in the country.
Moss again makes quick work of the Razorbacks, 1-2-3 to send the Aggies into the ninth inning holding a two-run lead.
Aggies get one aboard but can’t do anything with it as they hold their slim two-run lead entering the bottom of the eighth inning.
Moss works to two outs before allowing two base runners with a single and a walk. From there, W. Aloy comes to the plate, and Moss strikes him out to end the threat.
Aggies go down in order with a strikeout, groundout, and a popout, respectively.
Another breezy inning for Moss, who sits the Razorbacks down in order for the second-straight inning.
Thanks to a LaViolette double-play following a Kiel hit-by-pitch, the Aggies go down in order to end the top of the sixth.
Prager allows a single to the first batter of the inning before A&M turns to reliever Weston Moss, who sits Arkansas down 1-2-3 to get out of the inning unscathed.
Arkansas gets its second error of the night, and it’s a costly one, as A&M cashes in a run off the bat of Kent that allows Sorrell to score and gives the Aggies the lead back. From there, A&M grabs another unearned run off the bat of Binderup, who drives in Harrison.
Prager sits the Razorbacks down 1-2-3 for a smooth-sailing fourth inning.
Aggies come up empty once again, and have gone scoreless in back-to-back innings after the hot start.
Following a leadoff double by Davalan, W. Aloy blasts a home run to center field to tie the game at 4-4.
A&M gets two on but strands them as they close out the top half of the third.
Arkansas comes up empty-handed in the bottom of the second as the Aggies hold the two-run lead.
Aggies work the bases loaded with one out and are able to knot the game back up at 2-2 with a fielder’s choice off the bat of LaViolette. From there, a Henseler double drives in two more runs with two outs to give the Aggies a 4-2 lead.
The Razorbacks get it right back in the bottom of the first, cashing in two runs thanks to three hits.
