What Happened to Craig Melvin on TODAY? (Week of April 14)

Just a heads up: Viewers won’t see Craig Melvin’s smiling face on TODAY all this week.

Although the 45-year-old has been expertly co-anchoring the show alongside Savannah Guthrie for three months, Melvin will miss this week’s slate of episodes โ€” but don’t worry. He has a good reason and is taking the week off to celebrate Easter break with his family.

In an April 15 Instagram post, TODAY gave viewers an update on Melvin’s whereabouts and revealed who will step in for him all week: Sunday Night Football announcer Mike Tirico!

“A warm TODAY welcome to @miketiriconbc! He’ll be co-hosting with Savannah all week while Craig spends Easter break with his family. ๐Ÿงก,” the show captioned.

Anyone who has tuned in to the 2024 Summer Olympics or NBC’s Sunday Night Football in the past few years will instantly recognize Tirico and his iconic voice. Simply put, He’s one of the best broadcasters around.

Melvin last took an extended break from TODAY in February, joining his family in a venture to the mountains for an epic ski trip. His wife, Lindsay Czarniak, shared an adorable photo on Instagram to commemorate the occasion โ€” and yes, it looked cold, but the fam’s smiles said otherwise.

“Out of office โ„๏ธ#ski #family #snow,” she said in a caption.

Melvin is expected to resume his co-anchor duties beginning April 21.

Craig Melvin talks about his family’s Connecticut home

So, where exactly are Melvin and his gorgeous family celebrating Easter this year? Unless they’re traveling, we’d have to think the Easter Bunny will be visiting their equally gorgeous Westport, Connecticut home.

In a February 5 New York Times feature titled “At Home with Craig Melvin,” TODAY’s newest co-anchor peeled back the curtain on his beautiful six-bedroom house he shares with his wife, Lindsay, and their two children, Delano (10) and Sybil (8)

His “favorite” detail about the house? Everything in the basement, specifically the old-school restaurant booth he built down there while jazzing up the space. Melvin also added a bar in the basement, hung a massive television, and bought exercise equipment.

“This is our favorite space,” Melvin told the outlet. “When I’m not traveling and Lindsay’s not traveling, this is where we all have dinner on Sunday.”
