Phil Parkinson’s pre-season prediction for Bristol Rovers revealed, gives verdict on Wrexham’s opponents

Wrexham are gearing up for another huge match in their quest to secure promotion to the Championship.

The Red Dragons welcome a Bristol Rovers side with the worst form in League One and will be looking to add to their misery at the Racecourse Ground.

Phil Parkinson was ‘choked’ with the result in the previous encounter as Elliot Lee’s opener was cancelled out by a late equaliser as Wrexham missed countless opportunities to secure the victory.

Wrexham fans want Jay Rodriguez dropped in favour of Paul Mullin but Parkinson is set to stick with the same eleven from the previous six games against opponents he had high hopes for this campaign.

Speaking to the Leader, Wrexham boss Parkinson revealed his pre-season prediction for upcoming opponents Bristol Rovers and is surprised to see them struggling where they are.

Parkinson stated: “Bristol are fighting for their lives, they are another club who spent a lot of money in the summer.

“They have dropped into the bottom four and their supporters will be very disappointed with that because I think at the start of the season, play-offs were a realistic expectation for them.”

Just because Rovers are on a bad run of form and struggling, doesn’t mean that the Red Dragons can take them lightly having already dropped two vital points against them this season.

Parkinson was booked against Wigan, his third of the season, meaning that he now faces a one-match touchline ban for the clash with Bristol Rovers.

It will add to the nerves and tension at the Racecourse Ground as Wrexham know they can ill-afford any slip ups with Wycombe breathing down their necks.

Steve Parkin will be the voice on the touchline for the Red Dragons and the players will know that any messages needed will be heard loud and clear from Parkinson’s assistant.

Parkin keeps Wrexham grounded as Ollie Rathbone revealed and he will be more than capable of steering the ship whilst Parkinson watches on from the stands.
