In the 1950s, it was Them!. In the 2010s, we got Her. Now, in 2025, we’re finally getting Him. The latest Jordan Peele-produced film arrives in theaters this September, and based on its first real teaser, it’s taking a look at sacrifice—every meaning of the word.
The clip starts off with a montage of what you might call Nike-core; it’s athletic training footage with a voiceover intoning things like “If you wanna transcend the game, you have to dig deeper” and “talent is how hard you’re willing to work” and “No days off, no sleep, we grind.” However, this whole “never good enough” mindset might not actually be the best for longevity, especially when some apparent CTE arrives in the middle of the clip.
After that, Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans) asks: “What are you willing to sacrifice?” The answer seems to be at least a few bodies, though it’s not totally clear from the teaser how much of the monster we see is in Cameron Cade’s (Tyriq Withers) rattled head. After his injury, Cameron moves in with Isiah and his celebrity influencer wife Elsie White (Julia Fox). “But as Cam’s training accelerates, Isaiah’s charisma begins to curdle into something darker, sending his protégé down a disorienting rabbit hole that may cost him more than he ever bargained for,” continues a plot synopsis.
Him boasts a pretty cool and varied cast, including Tim Heidecker, Jim Jeffries, MMA heavyweight Maurice Greene, and rappers Guapdad 4000 and Tierra Whack. The film is directed by Justin Tipping, who co-wrote the screenplay with Zack Akers & Skip Bronkie. Him arrives in theaters on September 19.
