MIDTOWN, Manhattan (PIX11) – Put on your Sunday best and don your biggest, brightest bonnet for this New York Easter tradition.
The annual Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival returns to Fifth Avenue in Manhattan from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The march of mad hatters will start from 49th Street and head up to 57th Street.
The free parade and festival is open for all to join and enjoy, the only entry ticket is wearing your biggest, boldest, and wackiest hat. Onlookers can get the best view of the action from the area around St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
New York City’s Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival is a tradition that dates back to the 1870’s and was immortalized by Irving Berlin, a songwriter whose music composed a large part of the Great American Songbook.

The festival and parade runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Easter Sunday.
The festivities will kick off on Fifth Avenue and 49th Street near St. Patrick’s Cathedral and make its way up to 57th Street.
Entry to join or watch the event is free for all to enjoy.
Streets will be closed in the area at the discretion of the NYPD for Easter Sunday Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
