Sen. Jeanne Shaheen announced on Wednesday she is not running for reelection. MANCHESTER, N.H. —Sen. Jeanne Shaheen announced on Wednesday she is not running for reelection.
The news was first reported by News 9.
Shaheen, the first woman in American history to serve as both governor of a state and U.S. senator, has had a storied career in politics that stretches over several decades, from her time as an activist and campaign manager to her current tenure as the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

In a video released Wednesday morning, Shaheen said she’s ready to step away from public service at the end of her current term.
