Three Jayhawks were honored in the Big 12 Awards on Monday. Hunter Dickinson, Zeke Mayo and Dajuan Harris were all honored on the various teams that are voted on by the Big 12’s coaches. The rules state that the coaches can’t vote for anyone on their team. This year, the first team is comprised of 10 members, while the second and third teams have five members each.
Dickinson was named First Team All Big 12 for the second-straight season. He finished the year averaging 17.4 points per game on 53.8 percent shooting from the field. His scoring ranked fourth in the conference. His 9.9 rebounds per game ranked second in the conference. His 1.3 blocks per game also ranked eighth in the conference.
Mayo was named Third Team All Big 12 and was named to the Big 12 All Newcomer Team. Mayo averaged 14.0 points per game on 44 percent shooting from the floor and 40 percent from 3. He also averaged 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest.
Harris was an Honorable Mention selection, which means he received at least one Big 12 vote. The guard finished the regular season averaging 5.7 assists per game, which ranked second in the conference during the regular season. In terms of assist-to-turnover ratio, Harris led the Big 12 at 3.3.
“If I could be disappointed with anything, I would think KJ should have gotten an honorable mention,” Bill Self said. “I don’t think anybody in our league that’s a coach that’s coached against KJ wouldn’t feel like he’s one of the best 32 players in our league.”
