Tornado Watch until 1 p.m. Saturday

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A Tornado watch is in effect for all areas of northwest Louisiana until 1 p.m. Saturday. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is also in effect for most of east Texas until 10 a.m. Saturday morning. Thunderstorms in the watch area will be capable of large hail up to quarter or golf ball sized, damaging wind gusts, and a few tornadoes can’t be ruled out.

A powerful upper level low is about to pass through the region, tapping into warm and humid air and strong wind shear to support severe weather. As shear increases after sunrise, a few tornadoes will be possible.

The storms will likely end in the ArkLaTex before noon with dry and breezy conditions renewing wildfire concerns for the remainder of the day.

Futurecast outlook for the next 36 hours

Expect a mix of sun and clouds this afternoon with a west wind of 10 to 15 miles per hour occasionally gusting to 25 miles per hour. High temperatures will be in the low to mid 70s Saturday afternoon.
