CLEVELAND — Manager Alex Cora’s Game 1 lineup Saturday is slightly different from the one he drew up before Friday’s rainout.
The Red Sox and Guardians will play a doubleheader today here at Progressive Field. Game 1 is at 1:10 p.m. Game 2 is at 7:10 p.m.
Friday’s lineup initially had Carlos Narváez catching and batting ninth. Backup catcher Blake Sabol is now in the lineup and batting eighth.
Ceddanne Rafaela, who initially was scheduled to bat ninth, will bat eighth.
Righty Tanner Houck (0-2, 7.66 ERA) will start for Boston opposite Cleveland righty Ben Lively (1-2, 3.86 ERA) in the first game.
Hitters on the Guardians’ active roster are a combined 7-for-36 (.194) with one extra-base hit against Houck.
Meanwhile, hitters in the Red Sox lineup are 3-for-26 (.115) against Lively.
DH Rafael Devers continues to struggle but he remains in the second spot. He’s batting .194 with a .331 on-base percentage, .327 slugging percentage and .657 OPS in 121 plate appearances.
He leads the AL in walks (21) but also he also has a league–leading 36 strikeouts. He has just nine extra-base hits (two homers, seven doubles) in 121 plate appearances.
Since back-to-back two-hit games April 11-12, he has gone 4-for-44 (.091) with a .281 on-base percentage and .205 slugging percentage in 13 games.
Trevor Story, meanwhile, is 0-for-12 with a walk and seven strikeouts in his past three games.
Wilyer Abreu is just 9-for-56 (.161) with a .266 on-base percentage, .268 slugging percentage, one homer, three doubles, eight walks and 20 strikeouts in 16 games.
