Amazon Prime Day faces challenges as sellers withdraw amid tariffs
SEATTLE (KOMO) — Amazon’s Prime Day, one of the company’s largest shopping events, is facing potential setbacks as some sellers have decided to withdraw from this year’s event.
According to an exclusive report by Reuters, a number of third-party merchants, particularly those selling Chinese-made goods, have opted out in an effort to protect their profit margins amid the ongoing trade war between the United States and China.
Prime Day has been a significant event for the Seattle-based company, with Americans spending more than $14 billion during last year’s event.
However, the current tariffs imposed by the U.S. government are casting a shadow over this year’s sales, as sellers navigate the economic implications of the trade conflict.
