This Thursday and Friday are not just March 13 or March 14. These March numerical dates equal special meaning in Detroit and the food world.

On March 13, 313 Day celebrates the city’s iconic area code.

Some local restaurants are offering hot deals to mark 313 Day. Here’s a look:

  • Buddy’s Pizza is celebrating 313 Day, Pi Day (March 14), and St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) with a pizza deal Thursday through Monday. When you buy one Detroit-style pizza, you can get another at half price with the promo code BOGO25.

  • Participating McDonald’s restaurants will celebrate 313 Day with a special meal combo. McDonald’s 313 Day meal includes a double Filet-O-Fish, a 4-piece order of McNuggets, a medium order of fries, and a Vernors Boston Cooler made with the Detroit classic pop. Thursday is the only day the deal is offered and the only day Vernors Boston Cooler will be available.
  • Mezcal Mexican Restaurant at 51 W. Forest Ave. in Midtown Detroit will offer its house margaritas (with your choice of tequila or mezcal) for $3.13 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday. For info: mezcaldetroit.com.
  • Mootz Pizzeria + Bar, 1230 Library St. in downtown Detroit, will offer House Slice pizza slices for $3.13 from the restaurant’s pizza-by-the-slice counter from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (two-slice limit). For info: mootzpizzeria.com.

Pies and pizza for Pi Day

Friday, March 14, is known as Pi Day for the mathematical constant. Pizza and pie places in metro Detroit are celebrating with special deals.

If you don’t remember Pi from high school geometry class, it’s written as the Greek letter “π.” Pi is represented in the math world as 3.14.

They’re the first three digits in a number, which is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.

Here are a few deals in honor of Pi Day.

  • Grand Traverse Pie Co. will give you a free slice of Michigan ABC (apples, blueberries, and cherries) Crumb Pie with any purchase.
  • Blaze Pizza is celebrating with a pizza pie deal. When you buy one 11-inch pizza, you can get a second one of equal or lesser value for $3.14. Those taking advantage of the offer can receive a code redeemable in the Blaze Pizza app for the same deal through the end of March. For locations: blazepizza.com.
  • 7-Eleven: The convenience store chain’s popular Pi Day deal is on. Loyalty members can get a full, large pizza for $3.14 using the 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards at participating locations. Choose from flavors like the Ultimate Pepperoni or the chain’s new Supreme pizza featuring crispy pepperoni, ground sausage, sweet bell peppers and diced onions and mushrooms with cheese and zesty tomato sauce.
