Boston Celtics injury report: 5 rotation players listed for Heat game

With the Celtics’ schedule easing up for the rest of the regular season, they’ll likely rest up their main rotation players ahead of the playoffs. Of the 16 games left in the regular season, only three are against teams with a winning record.

So as the C’s take on the Heat at 7 p.m. Friday in Miami, they have five total rotation players listed on the injury report. To start, Al Horford is probable with a big toe sprain. The other four players are questionable: Jaylen Brown (knee), Jayson Tatum (knee), Kristaps Porzingis (illness) and Derrick White (knee).

Porzingis has missed the past seven games as it’s unclear when he’ll return to the court from his viral illness. There have been unknowns when it comes to his injury as the Celtics hope the big man returns to the court soon.

The C’s have a back-to-back coming up as they play the Nets in Brooklyn on Saturday, so Horford will only play one of those two games. The C’s will likely get Tatum, White and Brown some rest as they’re unlikely to play in both games. Tatum got a rest day earlier this week in the win over the Jazz on Monday.

Brown has been dealing with recent injuries. While he struggled in the Thunder loss, the C’s star revealed that was actually the best he’s felt in a couple weeks.

Expect the Celtics to get their main guys rest coming up. They’re currently 47-19 on the season, good for second in the East. But they’re 8.5 games behind the first-place Cavaliers and 4.5 games up on the third-place Knicks. So they’re at a point where their seeding is in a comfortable spot, barring any sudden wins or losses from the teams around them.
