Boy Meets World stars Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong are not pulling any punches when it comes to what they feel is “arguably the worst episode” of the show.
The trio slammed the eighth episode of season 6, “You’re Married, You’re Dead,” in the latest edition of their rewatch podcast, Pod Meets World. The episode in question famously features Cory (Ben Savage) going to a Hooters-esque establishment called Cleaváge to prove that, despite being engaged to Topanga (Fishel), he can still fit in with the guys.
On the podcast, Strong immediately started in on everything that bothers him about the episode, which is, well, kind of everything. “This episode felt very weird to me in that it felt like somebody had written a draft of an episode that was very clearly like Topanga is upset that Corey goes to essentially a strip club or Hooters. And then they kind of backed off of that by, like, having Topanga be very understanding,” he explained, as Fishel murmured in agreement.

He continued, “And in the rewrite, it’s almost like everything the characters are saying is going against the actual plot, and so it felt kind of forced in a way, and then some of the jokes felt rushed. I don’t know. Something felt off. It felt like this was a bad tape night for some reason.”
Strong, who also had issue with the fact that a lot of the series’ stars weren’t actually in the episode, conceded that parts were still “pretty funny,” and Savage’s acting made him laugh, but as a whole, “it just didn’t land in certain parts for me.”
Friedle was even stronger with his disdain for the episode, saying, “This ranks up there with arguably the worst episode for me of the series for every reason.” The star goes on to name several plot points in the episode that made no sense, such as Cory wearing an engagement ring. “The entire episode I thought was idiotic,” he said, adding, “I know TV. This was not it. This was a bad episode of television all the way around. That’s what I think about this episode.”

The trio were in unanimous agreement on this one, with Fishel in particular finding issue with the things Topanga said in the episode. “You want to know what makes me the most angry?” she asked Strong and Friedle, before telling them she agreed with all of their points. “I can’t stand it,” she continued. “And I am furious that they put the words, ‘Well, as long as there’s women willing to dance like that, there will be men to see them’ in Topanga’s mouth. How dare you? How dare you?”
