The perpetual reunion tour continues on for the Atlanta Braves. Not only has Ian Anderson returned to the fold and reported to Atlanta, the Braves have once again gone back to the well with a familiar face from the 2021 World Series-winning squad.
In the process of announcing multiple moves, one of those moves included the signing of OF Eddie Rosario to a major league deal.
The #Braves today reported RHP Ian Anderson to Atlanta after optioning RHP Davis Daniel to Triple-A Gwinnett following yesterday’s game. The club today also signed OF Eddie Rosario to a major league contract, and optioned OF Jarred Kelenic to the Stripers. To make room on the…

Eddie Rosario elected free agency after he declined an outright assignment from the Dodgers over the weekend. Atlanta’s currently in a desperate search for production in the outfield, as Atlanta’s outfielders have collectively produced a grand total of -0.6 fWAR on the season. With that being said, I have my doubts about Eddie Rosario being anything but a short-term solution to this issue, as Rosario is coming off of a 2024 season where he hit .175/.215/.316 with 10 home runs and 45 wRC+ on the year. He was last seen at the big league level as a designated hitter for the Dodgers for two games.
Meanwhile, Jarred Kelenic is going down after starting this season hitting .167/.231/.300 with two home runs and 48 wRC+ over 65 plate appearances so far. He’s produced -0.4 fWAR on the season and this was after he finished 2024 with a wRC+ of 86 and 0.5 fWAR produced over the course of 131 games. While Kelenic has been pressed into duty due to injuries and other concerns, it just hasn’t clicked like the Braves have hoped that it would for Kelenic when they signed him ahead of the 2024 season and now he’ll be given some time in Triple-A to figure things out.
In the meantime, Davis Daniel is going right back down to Gwinnett after he made his first appearance as a Braves pitcher during Sunday’s loss to the Diamondbacks. He tossed a scoreless inning, so at least he’ll have that to hold on to from his most recent stint in the bigs. Zach Thompson has been DFA’d after making two appearances and pitching 3.2 scoreless innings for the Braves here in 2025. Both of those appearances took place during that road trip that sent the Braves to Tampa and then Toronto and he hasn’t made any appearances since April 15.
So there you have it! The Braves are continuing to shuffle things around at the fringes of their big league roster in an effort to find something or someone who can stick around. Just like the door is always open to Jesse Chavez, it appears that the same could be said for Ian Anderson, Eddie Rosario and basically anybody else who has proven that they can get the job done in a Braves uniform at some point or another.
