The Cincinnati Reds are looking to pick up their third road series win in a row this season as they begin a 3-game trip to Miami to take on the 9-12 Marlins, who stopped a five game losing streak on Sunday by defeating the Phillies. Tonight’s first pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm ET.

Nick Lodolo
The lefty is going to be looking to rebound after his last start against Seattle. After dominating in his first three games of the year, Lodolo struggled against the Mariners and didn’t get out of the 5th inning.
Last season the splits for Lodolo were interesting. Left-handed hitters had a high average and walked at a higher rate against him than righties did. They also hit for zero power. Right-handed hitters didn’t hit for much average, but when they did pick up hits they hit for a solid amount of power.
The home and road splits were big. Away from Cincinnati Nick Lodolo’s ERA was 3.56, but at home it was 6.09. His OPS split was just as big, with hitters posting an OPS of .521 on the road against him but sat at .869 at home.

It’s been a strong start to the year for Max Meyer. He’s had three quality starts in a row, and the first one of the season saw him allow one run in 5.2 innings.
In 2024 Meyer split time between MLB and Triple-A. With the Marlins he did not pitch well against lefties or righties. Both groups of hitters hit for a good average and hit for a lot of power against him. His home and road splits weren’t that big, either – he struggled in Miami and when he was away from loanDepot park.
Neither of those things have been the case this season through four outings this year, though right-handed hitters have hit a little better this season against him. He’s throwing 1.1 MPH harder this season and he’s added a sinker, while dropping his rate of fastballs thrown and increasing the amount of sliders compared to the past.
