Clouds and some drizzle for the first day of Spring.. some steady rain on the way for tonight!

Happy 1st day of Spring! It kicked off at 5:01 AM this morning. It’s very cloudy today after yesterday’s fantastic weather. It’s not going to be as warm, but highs will still be above average inland in the mid-50s, and seasonal along the shoreline in the upper 40s (our normal high temperature for the Hartford area in 49 degrees and Bridgeport is 48). There’s fog out there this morning and occasional mist/drizzle. This is all ahead of a cold front expected to bring some steady rain our way tonight. Overall, it’s possible some areas could pick up a half an inch of rain from this quick moving system. It’s possible it could even end as a couple snow showers tomorrow morning, but it doesn’t look substantial if we even see anything at all!

By the way, a FLOOD WARNING remains in effect for the middle and lower Connecticut River until later tomorrow morning. Minor flooding is expected through the rest of the week with Hartford expected to reach 18.3 feet and Middle Haddam at 8.5 feet. Route 17A is also closed in Portland.

Tomorrow will be cooler, seasonal and sunny but blustery. The weekend looks fairly quiet. We’re tracking more rain, even a quick period of more snowflakes and mix is possible for Monday. Stay tuned here for the latest!

Today: First day of spring! Rather cloudy and cooler. Spotty light rain/drizzle at times. Highs in the upper 40s to mid-50s.

Tonight: Rain starts after sunset and continues through the overnight. Otherwise cloudy with some patchy fog. Lows in the low 40s.

Friday: Morning rain/mix/snow, then drying out with sunshine, windy and chilly for the afternoon. Highs in the mid to upper 40s. Feels like the 30s!

Saturday: Morning sun to afternoon clouds with highs in the mid-upper 50s. Cooler shore. A few late afternoon and evening showers and breezy at times.
