The Colorado Rockies’ first West Coast road trip has not gone well — currently, they are 0-4, having set a club record for more scoreless innings in Rockies history.
Tonight, they will look the turn that tide as the Rockies (3-13) take on the Los Angeles Dodgers (12-6) at Dodger Stadium. They lost the first game of the series, 5-3. Dating back to June 2022, the Dodgers have beaten Rockies 31 times during their last 41 games.
The Rockies’ offensive struggles are well known. They have scored 43 runs to start 2025, the fewest in the Majors and the fewest runs scored through the first 16 games in franchise history ahead of the 2019 club’s 46 runs. In addition, the Rockies’ 169 strikeouts are second-most in the Majors and also the most to start a season in franchise history.
The defensive news is not much better. Currently, the Rockies’ 16 errors are tied with the Pittsburgh Pirates for the second-most in baseball trailing Boston’s 20. They are also tied for the fourth-most errors in any 16-game span for Colorado in franchise history. (The last time this happened was April 6-24, 2012, when the Rockies had 15 errors.)
But it’s a new day and a new game, so perhaps their luck will change tonight.
For the Rockies, Ryan Feltner will pitch. The right-handed pitcher makes his fourth start of 2025 in his fifth major league season. (Time flies!)
Historically, Feltner has made five career starts against the Dodgers (six appearances), going 1-2 with a 5.79 ERA and 22 strikeouts (28.0 IP, 18 ER), including 14 walks.
So far this season, he’s earned a 2.81 ERA in 16.0 IP including 16 strikeouts.
Dodger starter Landon Knack will be making his third appearance and second start of the 2025 campaign after picking up the no-decision in his first start last week in Washington against the Nationals (2.1 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 4 BB, 2 K, HR). Knack earned the win against the Chicago Cubs in the Dodgers’ second of two games in Tokyo, Japan, after tossing 2.0 scoreless innings.
That said, don’t let his 10.38 ERA fool you. He’s off to a rough start, but in 2024, he finished the season with a 3.65 ERA in 69.0 IP, including 69 Ks.
And now to the details.
