Julianne Moore has a cult-like power over women — Milly Alcock included — and Meghann Fahy is not buying it in Netflix’s new limited series Sirens.
In the trailer for the upcoming series, which also stars Kevin Bacon, Fahy’s Devon tracks down her younger sister Simone (Alcock) amid bad news about their father’s health, only to find herself seriously concerned about the life Simone has gotten sucked into.
“I told you Dad got diagnosed with early-onset dementia and you sent a fruit basket?” Devon asks Simone as she arrives, looking disheveled, to the island where Simone works with her boss, Michaela (Moore), whom she seems to obsessively idolize.
“Michaela, she’s my boss, I get to call her Kiki,” Simone tells an increasingly confused Devon. “It’s a really special honor.”
After Devon’s surprise arrival, Simone introduces her to Michaela, who tells her, “I didn’t know you existed.”
“Trust me, Simone and I are very close,” Devon insists, prompting Michaela to wonder: “Then why didn’t she tell me about you?”

Devon is clearly put out by the whole vibe on the island — and the weird world her sister’s gotten sucked into — as she tells Michael’s husband Peter (Bacon), “My sister seems to really worship your wife.”
“Yeah, Kiki has that effect on people,” Peter replies, unsurprised.
While Devon feels like she’s the “only person” who has “always” had her sister’s back, Simone is convinced that her boss does too. But Devon isn’t sure about it all — and she’s wondering why her sister doesn’t “feel any responsibility” for their father.
“He didn’t feel any responsibility for me,” Simone hits back.
“This Michaela b—- has her talons so deep in your brain that you can’t even tell you’re in trouble,” Devon warns her sister, but Michaela insists she’s “not the monster you think I am.”

“This is the happiest I’ve ever been,” Simone claims, but Devon is not backing down on her mission to drag her sister out of there.
“No one knows you like a sister — and no one loves you better,” Devon says as the trailer concludes.

The five-episode limited series takes place “over the course of one explosive weekend at The Kells’ lavish island estate,” per the official logline, and is an “incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class.”
“Michaela’s cult-ish life of luxury is like a drug to Simone, and Devon has decided it’s time for an intervention,” the logline continues. “But she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be.”
