The Sanders family is about to add to its NFL legacy as Shedeur Sanders embarks on his NFL journey. The son of Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback has seen his draft stock resemble a roller coaster ride for months.
Sanders was initially believed to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but fell out of favor throughout the process, slipping out of the first round entirely.
Opinions differ depending on whom you ask.

Some believe he’s the best quarterback in the class. Others feel it’s only a matter of time until he’s declared a draft bust. Then there are those that center the evaluation on personality, which ranges from a class act to an entitled, arrogant individual.
We’ll eventually learn which side of the argument was correct or whether the answer was somewhere in the middle, but Sanders’ draft journey has been anything but conventional.
Here’s a look at whether Sanders was drafted and which NFL team he’ll be taking his talents to whenever it happens.
Did Shedeur Sanders get drafted?
Sanders has not been drafted and will now fall to being a potential Day 3 selection.
The expectation was that the Colorado quarterback would be taken on Day 2 after slipping out of the first round. That never came to fruition and now it’s a mystery where Sanders will be taken.
He was initially considered a top pick in the draft before dropping out of the first round. The Pittsburgh Steelers, considered to be the most likely landing spot, passed on Sanders multiple times over the first two days.
The Cleveland Browns instead opted to take Dillon Gabriel in the third round.
Five quarterbacks have come off the board through the first three rounds – Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart, Tyler Shough, Jalen Milroe and Gabriel.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on Friday that he believed Sanders’ floor was No. 83 with the Steelers. Instead, now he’s in danger of not being drafted at all.
It’s a shocking situation for a quarterback that was once believed to be in the same class as Ward.
Now the attention shifts to Day 3 and how long it will be before Prime Time’s son learns what his NFL future looks like.
