Donna Mills, Jaclyn Smith and Shania Twain Guest Star on ‘Doctor Odyssey’

Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) may have a spike in his love life after he met the handsome stranger named Marco (Adrian Anchondo) while in Miami at a medical convention. This, after a massive fallout with his ex, Brad Cooper (Parry Shen), and that means General Hospital’s Van Hansis is getting a love interest on the ABC daytime drama series.

Hansis, who debuted as a recast Dr. Lucas Jones back in October 2024, has made the role his own infusing Lucas with emotional sincerity and humor. Soap fans knew Van best for his role as Luke Snyder on As the World Turns (2005-2010) and as one half of soap super couple “Nuke’” with Jake Silbermann. Luke and Noah shared the first gay kiss between two men on a daytime soap opera back in 2007 that remains groundbreaking for its time.

Now, Van will chat about becoming part of the cast of General Hospital and his upcoming storyline and more when he visits You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel for a live chat on Friday, March 28th at 7pm ET/4pm PT.

Ahead of the live chat, Van teased his new on-screen relationship with Adrian Anchondo to Soap Opera Digest, “What we’ve been shooting has been really fun and again, I just love working with Adrian. What I really like about daytime in general, but I think specifically, General Hospital, is that Lucas is so tied into so many different stories and families and I get to work with so many different people and get to do so many different types of things — I do doctor stuff one day, and then the next day I’m yelling at Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), and the day after that I get to be drunk and puking on people (laughs). And now, getting to play a love story, there’s just so much variance in what I get to do that I get really excited when I get a new script and find out what’s happening next.”

Getting to have a love story of his own, Hansis knows how important it is for a character on a soap, “Romance, especially, is such an important part of daytime.” He added, “I’m excited to see where it goes between Lucas and Marco.”

Since being on GH, Hansis had the opportunity to work again with former ATWT castmate, Maura West as his aunt Ava, and Laura Wright as his sister, Carly Spencer, Van will be on-hand to talk about working with the talented ladies, and having the opportunity to once again in his career play a gay character on a major daytime drama series.

Hansis is a previous five-time Daytime Emmy nominee having scored three in 2007, 2009, 2010 for his role as ATWT’s Luke and two in 2016 and 2018 for his role as Thom in the digital streaming series, EastSiders. Will he rack up some more nominations during his run as Lucas? Stay tuned.
