Eddie Hall may lack Mariusz Pudzianowski’s MMA experience, but at KSW 105 on Saturday he proved that size and strength can make up for a lot of other deficiencies.
The former World’s Strongest Man needed just 30 seconds to dispatch fellow strongman Pudzianowski. A short right hand from Hall early on seemed to put Pudzianowski in trouble. The Polish powerlifter tried for a takedown to buy himself some time to recover, but Hall flung him violently to the mat before pouring on right hands for the finish.

What the fight lacked in precision or skill it made up for with sheer chaotic carnage. It was a super heavyweight tilt under special rules regarding round length, but it turned out to be a non-issue as Hall emerged victorious after a wild half-minute of action that was nothing but offense.
Pudzianowski later said he took a punch to the back of the head and was unable to recover. Replays did show him getting clipped behind the head at points, though it seemed unintentional from Hall, who was throwing punches with wild abandon right away.
The biggest difference seemed to be the nearly 70-pound weight advantage that Hall brought into the fight. The British strongman said he’d slimmed down for the bout, but still came in weighing 334 pounds, giving him a distinctive edge over Pudzianowski, who clocked in at 267 pounds.

At 37, Hall was also the younger man, and that difference in years showed even in this short conflict. Pudzianowski, 48, has now lost three straight, leaving him with an uncertain future in the sport he’s competed in only sporadically in recent years.
Hall later told reporters that he may have broken his right hand in the fight. This was his first sanctioned MMA bout, though he has dabbled in some other combat sports outings before. In his post-fight interview, he suggested the possibility of a rematch with Pudzianowski, though it’s unclear if this short display will sustain fan interest in that endeavor.

In the main event of KSW 105, welterweight champion Adrian Bartosinski defeated Andrzej Grzebyk via unanimous decision (49-46, 50-45, 48-47) after a grueling five-round battle. Bartosinski seemed to suffer an arm injury early in the fight, and seemed close to being finished with strikes at several points.
While the fight could have arguably gone to either man, the 50-45 scorecard for Bartosinski was certainly surprising. Bartosinski was clearly hurt and lucky to survive at least one of the five rounds, making it hard to see how he could have won a clean sweep on one judge’s scorecard.
