Cesc Fabregas says Como will play ‘with courage’ at San Siro against Milan and admits he takes inspiration from PSG and Liverpool’s playing styles ‘especially in the movements of the full-backs.’
Como travel to Milan on Saturday for a fascinating Serie A match against their region rivals.
“Milan are a team that scores often, so whoever comes on must be ready to understand and adapt to the dynamics of the match,” Fabregas said at a press conference on Friday via TMW.
“Today, with five substitutions, almost 50% of the team can change, and if someone isn’t ready, it becomes a problem. Milan scoring a lot in the final minutes is quite normal; they are a Champions League team. We, on the other hand, are in our first year in Serie A and need to improve. It’s more a matter of time than quality.”
Fabregas: Como ‘inspired’ by Liverpool and PSG and makes Barcelona prediction
Over 5,000 Como fans have already bought tickets for the away end at San Siro.
“We will always play with courage. Personality is essential; otherwise, we can’t implement our style of football,” said the Spanish tactician.
“Experience is gained season after season. Tomorrow, too, we will step onto the pitch with ideas and personality, that’s what I’ve asked of the players.
“For the first time, everyone is available. We have 26 players training together. I’m happy about that; everyone is involved,” Fabregas continued.
“Even Sergi Roberto has recovered. Of course, not all of them are ready to play 90 minutes, but training together is a great advantage.”
Reporters asked about Fabregas’ view on the latest Champions League matches but the ex-Barcelona midfielder also made a prediction about his former club.
“I’ve watched many matches, and Liverpool vs PSG was the best,” he said.
“I saw two styles of play that we take inspiration from, especially in the movements of the full-backs. A prediction for La Liga? I think Barcelona will win; they have a coach I really like. I show Como players footage of many top players.”
Newly promoted Como sit 13th in the Serie A table, seven points above the drop zone. They have won two games from the last five, against Fiorentina and former leaders Napoli.
Fabregas has won seven games, drawn eight and lost 13 in his first Serie A season at Como.
His contract at the Stadio Sinigaglia runs out in June 2028.
