The herald of Galactus has arrived.
Ozark and The Wolf Man star Julia Garner debuts as the Silver Surfer in Marvel’s new The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer, which dropped Thursday morning.
The actress previously teased the reveal to Entertainment Weekly, saying, “I’m assuming that this Silver Surfer is gonna be really shiny.” She wasn’t lying.
Presenting herself before Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Silver Surfer declares, “Your planet has been marked for death.”

And you know what that means: The space god Galactus (Ralph Ineson), whom she serves, is coming to devour Earth.
Well, their Earth. As EW revealed in a recent cover story, the Fantastic Four hail from a parallel reality to the Avengers’ reality, and they are the sole superheroes of their planet.
The new trailer continues to tease Galactus, though we still don’t get a good look at him. “I didn’t want to just use motion-capture for Galactus. I wanted to actually have someone there embodying the part,” director Matt Shakman recently told EW. “So we’ve built an entire costume for him, and we’ve done a lot of photography testing to figure out, ‘How do you make sure that the scale is correct?’ How do you film Mount Rushmore?”

Silver Surfer and Galactus arrive as Sue and Reed realize they’re going to be parents. (Comic book fans can guess which child they’ll be having.) “It’s my fault. I stretched the bounds of space,” Reed, the stretchable man, says in the new footage. “And they heard.”
