FRISCO — Jesús Ferreira arrived at Toyota Stadium hoping to score his first career goal with a team other than FC Dallas. It didn’t happen.
On his return to the house where he was born professionally, Ferreira came away empty-handed, but FC Dallas still fell 1-0 to the Seattle Sounders on Saturday night.
Ferreira, the second-leading scorer in FC Dallas history, was traded to the Sounders in January, just before the start of the 2025 season.
Before the game, Ferreira told The Dallas Morning News that if he scored a goal against FCD in his return to Toyota Stadium, he wouldn’t celebrate it out of respect for the fans and the club.

Ferreira, the most decorated homegrown player in FC Dallas history with 162 appearances, 53 goals, and 34 assists, has yet to score a goal with Seattle.
The Sounders player who did celebrate was Danny Mussovski, who scored the game’s first goal in the 17th minute, heading a Pedro Vega shot off the right post.
Saturday’s loss was FC Dallas’ third at home, where they have won only one match this season.
“Three losses at home is unacceptable”, FC Dallas coach Eric Quill said after the game.
“We just got to figure out what happened tonight and why it happened and have a warrior-like mentality that we can bounce back and and be a better version of ourselves next weekend”.
Mussovski’s goal caused confusion for FC Dallas, which didn’t produce a single shot on goal in the first half.
Two minutes before the end of the first half, FCD striker Petar Musa had to be carried off the field on a stretcher with an apparent ankle injury and was replaced by Logan Farrington.
In the second half, FCD tried to put more pressure on the Sounders, with Luciano Acosta trying to carry the team on his shoulders, but the Argentine midfielder could do little to prevent his team’s third loss of the season.
FCD’s most dangerous chance came in the 89th minute when Anderson Julio fired a shot inside the box, but Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei miraculously parried the ball.
“I felt like they (Seatttle) had a bigger back against the wall type mentality that we didn’t match”, Quill said. “The game didn’t have any rhythm, we didn’t generate enough and I think that was due to what they wanted to be once they got the goal.”
FC Dallas’ struggle to generate dangerous offensive chances is evident.
Quill’s team has scored 10 goals in eight matches this season, only three in its four home games.
Acosta and Musa are FCD’s top scorers, each scoring three goals.
“We had a structure change” Quill said. “Now we’re changing that because we were giving up a lot of goals. We haven’t given up much defensively, adding the extra midfielder and taking a winger off but we need to keep working to find ourselves.”
