ROUND #2: Severe storms possible late Friday night, especially over West Alabama after 10 p.m. The storms may be more isolated; however, there will be an increased risk of a tornado with any severe storms that form. So again, the main risks will be overnight, and we will have a period of dry weather for the day, with highs near 80º, and a gusty south wind.

ROUND #3: A significant risk of severe storms will develop by Saturday afternoon and continue into the evening. We could see some discrete supercell storms, followed by a line of severe storms on Saturday night. All modes of severe weather will be possible, including damaging winds, hail, and high-end tornadoes.

Keep in mind this forecast could still change and hopefully for the better. Will we see a lot more rain Saturday morning? Could we see coastal convection on Saturday? This would be a good thing. However, if the forecast holds, we will have a significant tornado threat in the afternoon. That’s why we want to stress readiness. Help spread the word and have a plan in the event conditions become favorable. In the meantime, nice weather for this evening, with the chance for rain and storms ramping up Thursday morning.
