A former champion has confirmed that they will be making their return to WWE via an appearance at the 2025 Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday, April 18.
While she achieved great success on her own, soon to be WWE Hall of Famer Michelle McCool’s career is often linked with former WWE star Layla, with the pair dominating the women’s division of WWE for a period of time in the late 2000s – early 2010s as LayCool.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Layla confirmed that she will be in attendance at this year’s Hall of Fame ceremony to celebrate her best friend McCool’s “deserved” induction:
“It’s (WWE Hall of Fame) an achievement for Michelle (McCool) 100 percent. She deserves this on her own merit, her own career, even before LayCool was even a factor so for me, I’m gonna be there.
“It’s huge for me because I want to celebrate my best friend. I wanna sit there, I wanna enjoy her getting her moment. I feel LayCool came after and anything associated with Michelle, I know I’m gonna be associated with her, with LayCool always. Always.
“That (will) always be something that her and I share a bond that we’ll always be together till the day we die. But, to me, I won’t be like, oh, yes! Michelle’s my partner. It’s my accomplishment. I can’t do that.
“It’s just her accomplishment. This is on her own standing, her own merit and I’m just 100 percent proud of her, here to support her and show her love.”
LayCool competed as a tandem between 2009-2011, with both stars holding the Women’s Championship at different points during that time.
They would pair would eventually feud in the Spring of 2011, leading to Layla defeating McCool in a Loser Leaves WWE match at Extreme Rules 2011.
McCool has since made several returns to the ring via Women’s Royal Rumble matches, most recently in 2023, while Layla has stayed away from the ring since departing WWE in 2015.
Joining McCool in the 2025 Hall of Fame class is Triple H, Lex Luger, The Natural Disasters (Typhoon & Earthquake), Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 and the recently announced ‘Legacy’ wing inductees – Kamala, Dory Funk Sr. and Ivan Koloff.
