GREEN BAY (WLUK) – A former Green Bay Packers player joined a group of volunteers to make a difference in the community during NFL Draft week.
On Thursday, the NFL and Lowe’s partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Green Bay to help build a 14-home development on the city’s east side.
The development has the potential to support up to 91 people.
Former linebacker and Packers all-time sack leader Clay Matthews stepped in to help.
CEO of Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity, Jessica Diederich, says her organization is really happy the NFL chose them as one of the nonprofits they wanted to be involved with during Draft Week.
“It’s really exciting for us to be able to shed light on what our community is doing when we have a national spotlight and we have people coming all over the world to visit so it’s really neat for us to be able to share with everybody a lot of the nonprofit missions in the area and it’s just really good exposure for our organization,” Diederich said.
In addition to labor, the NFL and Lowe also donated $7,000 worth of tools.
