The punting situation for the Carolina Panthers was settled in very short order on Tuesday.
According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, punter Johnny Hekker—a Panther for the past three seasons—has agreed to terms with the Tennessee Titans. That development came near minutes after the announcement of Carolina’s addition of their new free-agent punter, former Buffalo Bill Sam Martin.
Hekker spent the first decade of his NFL career with the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams. He’d go on to earn four first-team All-Pro selections, two second-team All-Pro selections, four Pro Bowls nods and a spot on the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team over his 10 years with the organization.
Carolina signed Hekker to a three-year, $7.6 million deal ahead of the 2022 campaign. He kicked for 47.0 yards per punt with an average net of 42.7 yards in 51 games for the Panthers.
