The former US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia was found dead Saturday morning by police who are now investigating the shocking demise of the high profile lawyer, according to reports.
The body of Jessica Aber, 43, a Biden appointee who resigned her position in January as President Trump took office, was discovered at her home by Alexandria Police Department officers just before 9:20 a.m. Saturday morning, according to Fox News.
The circumstances of the death remain under investigation, according to the APD, NBC Washington reported.
An official cause of death will be determined by the Virginia medical examiner’s office.
Local officers arrived at Aber’s Alexandria, Va., home after receiving a call reporting an “unresponsive woman,” according to local reports.
The current US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia mourned the shocking loss in a statement issued Saturday afternoon.
“We are heartbroken beyond words to learn of the passing of our friend and former colleague, US Attorney Jessica Aber. She was unmatched as a leader, mentor, and prosecutor, and she is simply irreplaceable as a human being,” the statement from US Attorney Erik Siebert read.

Prior to being named US Attorney for EDV, Aber was an assistant US attorney in the district starting in 2009. She then served as counsel to the assistant attorney general for the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice from 2015 to 2016.
In 2021, she was nominated by President Biden for the high profile post and confirmed unanimously by the senate.
