Full details of Kenny Pickett trade have been finalized after latest Eagles pick

Had the Philadelphia Eagles received any compensation for Kenny Pickett, we would have been ready to state they had won a trade involving him… for the most part. We knew he’d never be in town long. Then, there’s the other thing… Tanner McKee isn’t as mobile but is certainly a better player.

So, when news broke that Howie Roseman executed a player swap, naturally, that raised our antenna. He shipped Kenny off and brought Dorian Thompson-Robinson into the mix. That made us feel like the Birds had negotiated their way into some sort of bonus.

Never did we imagine that the former Pitt star would move on and the Eagles would get something out of the deal, but that’s exactly what happened on March 12, 2025. Pickett left, and the Birds got a player AND draft compensation.

That brings us to pick 164.

The Eagles’ Kenny Pickett trade is finalized with the selection of

The most intriguing part of the player-for-player swap was that it didn’t end with Pickett and DTR trading jerseys. Howie Roseman also talked his friend and former protégé, Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry, into giving the Birds a 2025 fifth-round draft choice.

That draft choice was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Birds packaged that with the 32nd selection in Round 1 to move up one spot and select former Alabama Crimson Tide star Jihaad Campbell. The Chiefs traded that pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Black and Gold used the new selection to acquire Yahya Black, an interior defensive lineman from Iowa and a former teammate of Cooper DeJean’s.

So, even with that being said, we’d still give the Birds credit for winning this negotiation. They found another QB prospect, one who isn’t any better or worse than Pickett is. They also earned a bartering chip, one they used to help them draft what might be the best and most versatile true linebacker in the 2025 draft class.

The 164th selection helped Philly land the uber-talented Jihaad Campbell. He could be around for ten years or so. Credit Cleveland for the assist. They helped Philadelphia and K.C.

Sheesh. If they could only use that power to help themselves out!
