Game Day Preview: 4/5/25 Cardinals Vs. Red Sox

After the Cardinals started the season on a strong note offensively as one of the 5 best offenses, they continued that in a losing effort in Boston on Friday, scoring 9 runs in a 13-9 American League classic battle of the bats. Ivan Herrera continues to be a source of power in the middle of the lineup and is among the early leaders in baseball in HR’s. Erick Fedde clearly didn’t have his best stuff yesterday and appeared to be struggling to “finish” his pitches. Hopefully Andre Pallante can keep the high-powered Boston offense on the ground today and the Cardinals can continue their approach against ‘ol Richard “Dick” Fitts. (te-he)

Game Info: 3:10 PM CDT first pitch

Where to watch: FanDuel Sports Midwest

Where to listen: KMOX 1120/ 104.1 FM

Pitching matchup:

STL: Andre Pallante (1-0 3.60 ERA)

VS.

BOS: Richard Fitts (0-1 4.50 ERA)

Players to Watch:

STL: Ivan Herrera: Herrera has 4 Home Runs and 9 RBI’s in the last 2 games and is looking like an early contender for an NL All Star nod. I’ll take this moment to also mention Lars Nootbaar as another player to watch but my pick today is Herrera to keep raking!

BOS: Wilyer Abreu: Abreu is the Red Sox early leader offensively and considering he is hitting 7th in this lineup tells you just how dangerous this group can be when their anchors find their rhythm during the season. Abreu is 11-22 with 3 HR and 8 RBI in the first 8 games.
