ANAHEIM — The Guardians send Gavin Williams to the mound on Friday night as they try to recover from a three-game sweep by the Padres at Petco Park.
Williams will be facing the Angels for the first time. He made his first start of the season on March 29, going five innings against the Royals, while allowing two runs on four hits. After leading the Guardians with 26 strikeouts in 17 1/3 innings in spring training, Williams had just one strikeout against the Royals.
Where: Angel Stadium on Friday at 9:38 p.m. EDT. It’s the Angels’ home opener and the game isn’t expected to start until 10 p.m. EDT because of pregame festivities.
