Gumball returns with a new name and a new home on Hulu and Disney+

Hulu has released the first teaser for The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, the upcoming revival of Ben Bocquelet’s beloved animated franchise. The new series marks a fresh chapter in the Gumball universe and is expected to premiere on Hulu and Disney+ later this year.

The announcement comes nearly two years after Cartoon Network revealed plans for a seventh season of The Amazing World of Gumball in 2023. Since then, the project has evolved, including a name change to better reflect the show’s new direction and tone.

According to the official synopsis, The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball will feature “even wilder stories, bigger twists, and surreal humor,” prompting the rebrand from the original title, The amazing world of Gumball.

The teaser hints at the return of the show’s signature absurdity, as Gumball navigates chaotic new adventures with his family and friends in the unpredictable town of Elmore.

“Whether he’s battling an evil fast food empire, facing off against a sentient AI in love with his mom, or trying to stop Banana Joe from wearing pants, Gumball drags Darwin, Anais, and the rest of Elmore along for the ride,” the synopsis reads.

The new series is expected to be featured at the upcoming 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, which kicks off later this month. Last year’s event confirmed the series was in production and offered a first glimpse at the premiere episode, titled “The Burger.”

The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball release date
