There has been a long, long list of leaked upcoming characters heading to Marvel Rivals in the coming seasons, but we now have confirmation that season 2 will bring one very specific X-Men universe villain.

That would be Emma Frost, seen in lists of upcoming characters previously, but now her character design has leaked via the ever-reliable X0XLEAK for the first time for the upcoming season that will prominently feature Krakoa, the sentient living island, and the Hellfire Gala.

You can see the first looks at her below and well, given that Marvel Rivals has no issue channeling the attractiveness of all its comic book characters (including recently, a twerking Venom), Frost has an outfit reminiscent of Chun-Li in a few specific ways. Needless to say, fans are thrilled.

A season 2 “greeting message” has also leaked, a very, very long one detailing the plot and focus of the season. Here’s part of it, but the full message is very, very long:

“After the inaugural Hellfire Gala, the Mutants’ meticulously crafted fireworks show once again left us awestruck. Emma Frost’s telepathic projections seemed to materialize right before our eyes, as the barren landscape of Mars transformed into a thriving sanctuary housing Krakoa’s sister: Arakko. In that electrifying moment, we decisively welcomed both the Hellfire Gala and Arakko into Marvel Rivals, ushering in a plan for new heroes, epic maps, and an entirely fresh series of costumes.”

What it does not mention is who the other season 2 character will be, and even leakers don’t seem to know that. Emma Frost is obviously first at season launch ere, but switching from the overstuffed season 1 which brought in the entire Fantastic Four, there should be only one hero coming midway through the season. The idea, presumably, would be another X-Men character, but there are loads of those listed as coming leaks. Among likely options may be Professor X or Jean Grey. But we don’t know yet. Blade, heavily featured in season 1, seemed like he was imminent, but apparently not. Ultron is another hero that has apparently been primed and ready to go, but I’m not sure how he would fit into this storyline at all. I think it has to be another mutant. (Update: It does appear in fact to be Ultron, somehow)

Interest in Marvel Rivals has begun to dip somewhat, down to 168,000 nightly peaks on Steam compared to its 644,000 record high, but that’s still really solid and again, it is nearly the end of the season, so this is not expected.

We don’t have much confirmed information about Frost, even her role, which some speculate could be just the second female Vanguard with her diamond-based hardening powers. But we just don’t know. More information soon, no doubt.
