After a dud against the undermanned Denver Nuggets, the Houston Rockets look to get back to their winning ways when they welcome the Atlanta Hawks to the Toyota Center.

The Hawks have won three games in a row and are 7-3 over their last 10 games, so tonight is by no means a layup. The Hawks play in the weakest division in basketball, the Southeast, and could win the division while still being a play-in team. They currently sit in seventh place, two games ahead of Orlando and four back in the loss column from sixth. As with a few of Houston’s recent opponents, the Hawks will be desperate to win to keep their positioning locked up. The seventh seed guarantees two home postseason games. The eighth seed only guarantees one. Selfishly, I’d love to see Atlanta get to the sixth seed because it would mean we’d get Trae Young in the Garden in Round 1.

Houston has to come out with more juice tonight than they did Sunday night. Even though the game was tied at halftime, it was clear early on that Denver was putting forth much more effort than the Rockets. Against a surging Hawks squad with a deadly point guard and several athletes and shooters, anything less than full effort on defense will spell a loss for the Rockets.
