NASHVILLE, Tenn. — No. 4-seed Tennessee basketball plays No. 1-seeded Auburn in an SEC Tournament semifinal on Saturday afternoon.
Tipoff between the Vols (26-6, 12-6 SEC regular season) and Tigers (28-4, 15-3 SEC regular season) is scheduled for approximately 1 p.m. Eastern at Bridgestone Arena — the home of the NHL’s Nashville Predators. Dan Shulman (play-by-play), Jay Bilas (analyst) and Jess Sims (reporter) will have the call on ESPN.
Fans can listen to Bob Kesling (play-by-play) and Bert Bertelkamp (analyst) call the action on the Vol Network (Local: WIVK-FM 107.7/WNML-FM 99.1) over 65 stations across the state of Tennessee and the southeast. Fans can also listen to Tennessee’s official broadcast on SiriusXM (Ch. 106 and 190), the SiriusXM app or the Varsity App. A live audio stream of the broadcast will also be available on UTSports.com and the Tennessee Athletics App.
Tennessee has made the final in three of the past six SEC Tournaments. The Vols are 75-58 (.564) in the conference tournament in their history, with five titles. They’re 12-7 with one title under coach Rick Barnes.
Saturday is an opportunity for Tennessee to atone for the opportunity that slipped away from the Vols in Auburn on Jan. 25, when the Tigers erased a four-point deficit in the final two minutes and held on for a 53-51 win in a physical game that was end-to-end compelling despite the low score. Tennessee senior point guard Zakai Zeigler missed a would-be, game-winning three-pointer just before time expired, sending Neville Arena into delirium.
A win Saturday also would put the Vols one step closer to securing their first No. 1 NCAA Tournament seed in program history — though they’d still almost certainly need to beat Florida or Alabama in Sunday’s championship game to cement that claim.
