SAN JOSE – Viewers who want to see the San Jose Sharks play the Edmonton Oilers at SAP Center on Thursday night will either need a ticket or be subscribers to either ESPN+, Hulu or Disney+.
The Sharks’ game against the Oilers is being shown exclusively on the streaming networks and not on NBC Sports California, the team’s longtime local cable broadcast partner. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. (PT).

In August, ESPN released its NHL broadcast schedules for the 2024-25 NHL season. This is the third and final time the Sharks will appear exclusively on ESPN+, Hulu, and Disney+.
ESPN+ subscriptions cost $11.99 per month or $119.99 per year. Hulu costs $9.99 per month and $99.99 per year.
After Thursday, the Sharks will have seven games remaining, six of which will air on NBC Sports California. The one exception is the April 11 game in Edmonton, which will air on NBC Sports California Plus.
In addition, television coverage of the Sharks’ games on Monday vs. Calgary, April 13 at Calgary, and April 16 vs. Edmonton may begin on NBC Sports California Plus, pending the duration of the Athletics or Sacramento Kings games on those dates. The Sharks games will be joined in progress on NBC Sports California as soon as the baseball or basketball game(s) conclude.
The Sharks enter Thursday on a three-game losing streak and in 32nd and last place in the NHL’s overall standings, two points back of the 31st-place Blackhawks, who have seven games remaining. The team that finishes 32nd will have a 25.5% chance of winning next month’s NHL Draft Lottery.
The Sharks and Oilers have played once this season. Yaroslav Askarov was brilliant, making 39 saves, but the Sharks could not hold onto a late lead and lost 3-2 in overtime. Mattias Ekholm scored with 18 seconds left in the third period to tie the game, and Leon Draisaitl scored 18 seconds into overtime for what was then his 24th goal of the season. Draisaitl entered Thursday with a league-leading 52 goals.
