Some pretty good multi-tasking going on.
The Huskers have won two in Las Vegas heading into Saturday. They’ve also now added two portal commitments.
A day after Nebraska landed Pryce Sandfort from Iowa, the Huskers received a commitment Saturday morning from Central Michigan’s Ugnius Jarusevicius.
The 6-10 Jarusevicius was regarded as one of the best players in the MAC last season, averaging 16.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game to earn first-team all-MAC honors.
It was a high scoring efficiency rate while averaging 26.7 minutes per game. Jarusevicius did show some outside shooting ability too, hitting 22-of-71 from deep (31.0 percent). Jarusevicius was 53.7 percent from the field as a whole. He was a 71.8 percent shooter at the line, getting there 170 times. Originally form Alytus, Lithuania, he shows some nimbleness on his feet for a bigger man.
He was in double digits in 20 of his last 21 games this season, dating back to scoring 17 at Minnesota. He also had 11 points and 14 rebounds against Marquette. His scoring output includes eight games with more than 20 points and twice where he had 32.
Prior to spending last season at Central Michigan, he was at Cal State Bakersfield for two years. His minutes and game at CMU grew significantly from his first two years in college where he averaged 4.4 points his first year and 5.5 his second.
His commitment comes a day after Nebraska landed a public announcement that 6-7 sharpshooter Pryce Sandfort, formerly of Iowa, was joining the Husker program.
It’s a big start to a weekend where the Huskers are playing in the College Basketball Crown, with a matchup against Boise State set for 12:30 CT on Saturday.
