Jan Schwieterman — the actor who rose to fame with his role in the 1997 comedy Good Burger — has died at age 52.

The star’s brother, Chad Schwieterman, originally announced the news of the star’s February 28th death nearly three weeks ago, but it wasn’t widely reported until March 21.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my brother, Jan (JP) Schwieterman,” Chad wrote on social media, noting his sibling “recently found out he had an aggressive form of stage 4 cancer.”

He ended the message: “Rest in peace, brother. We love you and miss you.”

An online obituary states Jan passed away at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri.

According to the tribute, Jan was involved with the Boy Scouts of America during his youth in Indiana and proudly achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

“Soon after high school he moved to California and became an actor,” the obituary notes.

Before portraying fast food villain and Mondo Burger owner Kurt Bozwell opposite Kenan Thompson in Good Burger, Jan acted in smaller roles in several television shows, including ER and McKenna.

After an acting hiatus, he appeared in the 2007 movie Along the Way.

The obituary highlighted Jan’s many passions and pursuits throughout his life. “He has traveled to many countries throughout his life, most recently to Thailand,” the obituary reads. “He was an artist of photography and painting. He studied martial arts and loved playing Dungeons and Dragons.”

In addition to his brother, Jan is survived by his parents and two sisters.
